China’s Solar Industry Signals Price Hike, Global Impact Expected

China’s solar industry is witnessing a major shift as leading solar wafer manufacturers have increased prices by up to 12 percent. According to experts, this move could push solar module prices to around $0.21 per watt by 2026.

The decision aims to curb excessive competition caused by oversupply, which had pushed prices to record lows over the past two years. If this trend continues, countries like Pakistan—where solar demand is rapidly increasing—may face higher solar panel costs in the near future.

چین کی سولر انڈسٹری ایک بڑی تبدیلی کا مشاہدہ کر رہی ہے کیونکہ معروف سولر ویفر مینوفیکچررز نے قیمتوں میں 12 فیصد تک اضافہ کر دیا ہے۔ ماہرین کے مطابق اس اقدام سے 2026 تک سولر ماڈیول کی قیمتیں 0.21 ڈالر فی واٹ تک پہنچ سکتی ہیں۔

اس فیصلے کا مقصد زائد سپلائی کی وجہ سے ہونے والی حد سے زیادہ مسابقت کو روکنا ہے، جس نے گزشتہ دو سالوں میں قیمتوں کو ریکارڈ کم ترین سطح پر دھکیل دیا تھا۔ اگر یہ رجحان جاری رہا تو پاکستان جیسے ممالک — جہاں شمسی توانائی کی طلب میں تیزی سے اضافہ ہو رہا ہے — کو مستقبل قریب میں شمسی پینل کی زیادہ لاگت کا سامنا کرنا پڑ سکتا ہے۔
